FAQs

What should I expect to spend for private tutoring?

Before I begin working with any students, I want to discuss their needs and objectives. I want to know what you expect to accomplish by working with a private tutor, and in what time frame you hope to see results and/or achieve your goals.  Once I understand the student's objectives, I can propose a program and timeframe, and then discuss the associated cost. Tutoring services are generally billed at an hourly rate.

How much time should I expect to spend with a tutor?

Time commitments will vary based on the student's needs. Tutoring sessions may be 1-2 hours in length, one or more times per week.

What is your success rate?

I am pleased to say that my success rate with College Test Prep students is very high. Virtually all of my students increase their scores. With many years of experience covering a wide range of topics, as well as student ages and abilities, my methods have been proven to be successful.

Where will the tutoring take place?

Studies show that students benefit most when tutoring is done in a neutral area, away from home distractions, noise, other students, and so on. I have a business office area in my home dedicated to tutoring sessions, with computers, resources, work space and all necessary tools.

What about group tutoring?

While most of my students prefer one-on-one tutoring for undivided attention, we can also arrange group programs. A group of 3 or 4 students who are all preparing for the same exam may want to create their own class. In this case, I meet with all students at once to cover concepts and skills, and then students may study together outside of our group tutoring time.

Do you work with Learning Disabled students?

Yes, I have worked with a number of students facing various learning challenges.

Do you offer programs for Corporate environments?

Many of the private tutoring subjects can move quite well to the Corporate environment, including business writing, presentation skills, interview skills and communication skills. If you are interested in arranging group training in your work environment, please contact me.
